Polyamory & ethical non-monogamy therapy — Melbourne & telehealth

Non-monogamy isn't the problem we're solving for.

Opening a relationship for practical reasons, working through a mismatch when one partner's polyamory is simply who they are, or bringing a whole polycule into the room — this is ordinary work here, not a special accommodation. The therapy starts from what's actually going on between you, not from a crash course in what ethical non-monogamy is.

To be clear: you don't need to be non-monogamous to work with us. Plenty of our relationship therapy clients are monogamous — this page just speaks directly to poly, ENM, and multi-partner work specifically.

Who this is for

  • Couples opening their relationship for practical reasons — a desire difference, not an identity crisis
  • People whose polyamory is a settled part of who they are, navigating a mismatch with a partner still catching up
  • Polycules and multi-partner households who want everyone's dynamics in the room, not just the two who made the booking
  • Swingers and lifestyle-community members who've put off therapy because they assumed a "normal" therapist would call the lifestyle the problem
  • Metamours, co-parents, and partners of partners — the people therapy usually forgets exist

What to expect

  • A therapist who already knows what a metamour, a hinge, or a polycule is
  • Sessions built for more than two people, when more than two people are actually in the relationship
  • Practical frameworks for jealousy, disclosure, and scheduling, alongside deeper identity work when that's what it is
  • Online across Australia, or in person at our Carlton office

Why Unison, not a generalist clinic?

Non-monogamy and multi-partner therapy are close to the reason Unison exists, not a service bolted onto a mainstream practice afterward. Our clinicians have sat with enough polycules, metamour dynamics, and "is this a phase or who I am" conversations that none of it needs pre-explaining.
